What are all of the different ways you can power a flashlight?
Batteries are not the only source of power:
There are actually a lot of different ways that you can power a flashlight, it is based on the kind of flashlight that you have. Your average flashlight is powered by batteries but there are also flashlights that are powered mechanically, there are flashlights that are powered by capacitors and more. Like originally lanterns were powered by burning different kinds of oil such as animal oils or even some different mineral oils.
Battery powered flashlights are the most common and the batteries are either disposable or rechargeable. The different sized flashlights are what determines the kind of batteries used as well as the amount of batteries used. Keep in mind some batteries last longer than others and rechargeable batteries are the best way to go.
Flashlights that are mechanically powered are done so by winding a crank and it charging the batteries to run for a little bit and when it dies out to get it going again all you have to do is crank it some more, the more you crank it the more power you will have. Some crank flashlights can use capacitors to store the energy. And there is at least one rechargeable flashlight that uses a super capacitor that allows you to store a lot of energy over and over again.
Flashlights that you can crank really come in handy with emergency situations especially if you don’t have any working batteries and the flashlights that run on batteries come in handy in emergency situations as well but they are not as realistic. When it comes to every day uses it is highly recommended to go with the best small flashlight out there that is rechargeable and even LED.
